Note:

Kris is a fan-boi, not a linguist, so here are resources from people far more knowledgeable on Tolkien's Elvish languages!

RealElvish.net

A site run by linguist Fiona Jallings, who has extensive knowledge of Neo-Sindarin and other Elvish conlangs. Phrasebooks, Word Lists, and FULL NEO-SINDARIN COURSES are available through The Academy!

The Trustworthy Websites section is extremely well curated.

Elvish Linguistic Fellowship

An international organization devoted to the scholarly study of the invented languages of J.R.R. Tolkien.

The primary activity of the E.L.F. is carried out in the pages of its two print journals, Vinyar Tengwar and Parma Eldalamberon. This is as close to official as it gets!

Elvish Dictionaries

The most trustworthy dictionaries I have found when exploring Tolkien's languages are Parf Edhellen, Eldamo, Hiswelókë, VinQuettaParma, and Ardalambion. I have used several of these since I first learned Neo-Sindarin in the early 2000s!

Amanye Tenceli

A site by Måns Bjorkman, who has done extensive scholarly works on specifically the writing systems in Tolkien's world, from the Fëanorian Tengwar to Daeron's Cirth to the Sarati used in Valinor.

Several fonts are also available for download here.

Info on the World of Arda

Looking to learn more about Tolkien's world of Arda? My favorite resources are the Encyclopedia of Arda and Tolkien Gateway. Both have great search functions.

Beware! Just like Wikipedia, it's easy to get lost on these sites for hours! It's exquisite, honestly.

Tolkien's Calendars

A handy tool for anyone wanting to play with converting the modern Gregorian Calendar to Shire Reckoning or the Calendar of Imladris.

To best learn how to use the tool, look through the extensive notes as well. Once you do, this is a LOT of fun!
